ASTM B161 Alloy 201 Seamless Tubing is a low carbon version of Nickel 200. Manufacturers use only about a maximum 0.02% of carbon in the ASTM B725 201 Nickel Welded Tube. Because of the modification in the content of carbon, both nickel 200 as well as Nickel 201 Cold Rolled Coiled Tube can lend themselves to slightly different applications.
Although this metal grade has many similar properties to that of CP grade Nickel 200, the Nickel UNS N02200 Tubing is considered to be better suited for those applications where temperatures settings can exceed 315°C. Because the carbon content of the Nickel 201 Electropolish Tube is lower, it would mean that nickel 201 will not form graphite even after extended exposure to high temperatures, unlike nickel 200. Since Nickel 201 Decorative Tube has a low base hardness and it has a lower work hardening rate, this alloy tends to be ideal for spinning and cold forming operations.
Other properties offered by the Nickel 201 High Pressure Tube, include good resistance to corrosion and its resistance to caustic soda. When exposed to caustic soda, the nickel 201 seamless tube forms an oxide film that protects it in this situation, therefore it is frequently used in applications concerning caustic soda. Applications of the Nickel Alloy 201 Tubes include being used in combination with caustic evaporators, plater bars, combustion boats, and electronic components.
The Nickel 201 Sanitary Tube is also used in the electrolytic extraction of caustic soda from salt solutions as well as in the subsequent concentration processes. Plus, due to the metals resistance to distilled and natural waters, Nickel 201 Polish Tube is used within the food processing industry.
