2507 Stainless Steel Pipe is a super duplex grade for which elements chromium, nickel and molybdenum are the primary alloyants. Chemically speaking, the Duplex 2507 Tubing is produced by alloying 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, along with 7% nickel.

Hence, due to its chemical composition with regards to its highest alloyant content, this grade is also referred to as 25cr Super Duplex Pipe. This particular grade of duplex 2507 Stainless Steel Pipe is famous for its excellent resistance to chloride ion stress related corrosion cracking, which has been attributed to the duplex micro structure of the alloy. The fractional alloy 2507 super duplex tubing, also has a high thermal conductivity in addition to having a low coefficient of thermal expansion.

The high contents of elements chromium, molybdenum, and nickel is what provides the 2507 duplex stainless steel tube with excellent resistance to local corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion ,as well as general corrosion. A lower content of carbon in Sandvik Saf 2507 Pipe greatly reduces the risk of carbide precipitation, which can occur at the grain boundaries during heat treatment. 2507 super duplex stainless steel pipe is particularly useful in applications involving the offshore oil and gas industries as well as in wells with either naturally high brine levels or where brine solution has been injected to enhance recovery in these wells.

The higher content of chromium and molybdenum in super duplex 2507 pipe makes it extremely resistant to uniform corrosion in the presence of organic acids like formic and acetic acid. Super duplex 2507 tubing material can be used in dilute hydrochloric acid as well. In fact, 2507 super duplex tubing offers excellent resistance to inorganic acids, especially in those settings which contain chlorides.
